We are pleased to introduce to you The Pious Muslim Women Organisation, a registered Islamic Non-Governmental Organisation committed to promoting the welfare of the vulnerable groups in our society. Our membership comprises mainly
of women in academia, professions and business. Majority of our members are based in Nigeria while a few are in Ghana, Europe and America. Our focus is to further modernize and deepen the Islamic teaching and culture of social welfare
which have been wrongly interpreted by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. This is done by bringing our professional knowledge and experience to bear on Islamic social works. We have executed a number of social and economic intervention
projects to the benefit of widows, orphans and the physically / mentally challenged.
In recognition of the emphasis that Islam places on the care of orphans, we have provided succor and hope for a number of orphans but the outcome in most cases failed to meet our expectation. This is because the orphans we assisted
live with relations who are themselves struggling to survive and, therefore, are unable to provide adequate emotional care for the orphans; or as in a few instances, abused the material provision made for the orphans. This led us
to decide to establish an orphanage in Ilorin to provide adequate care for children admitted therein.
Objectives of the Orphanage
To afford orphans a childhood experience that will help them become useful members of the society
- To provide basic education to the orphans
- To keep the orphans in a secured place to play and enjoy their childhood.
- To afford them basic Islamic teachings
- To provide them good welfare service such as feeding, health care and recreation.
achieve these objectives we have acquired land in Pake area of Ilorin at a cost of N6.8 million and have designed the infrastructure to be developed on it. This includes separate hostels for boys and girls, multipurpose hall for dining, reading, recreation, etc., a block of sick bay and offices, and a mosque. The estimated cost of building these facilities is N50 million.
It is common knowledge that today’s youth live in despondence and Muslim youth are worse hit. There is an urgent need to address this problem before hope is lost. While children who have parents can look up to their parents for support
to overcome their challenges, orphans can only look up to well-meaning individuals and organizations for support. While we have always relied on members’ donations for out programmes, we are of the view that the urgency of the
need for this orphanage demands that we seek the collaboration and support of individuals and organisations who share our vision on the project. We are aware of your legendary concern for the plight of orphans and this is why hereby
requesting your collaboration and support on this project. It will be our pleasure if you would choose to build any of the facilities we require in the orphanage. This is without prejudice to any additional way you may choose to
support our cause.
